Service Design Project. November - December 2022
Background
The project’s idea is how the dogs that sniff and explore have been taken into account. How dog parks could be develop with service design to serve better all dogs and their owners.
The research and analysis results
I asked owners thoughts and what they value about dog parks. I also asked about biodiversity and how it could connect to dog parks. 55,3% of respondents go more than once to a dog park. 56,6% can find a suitable dog park to visit in Helsinki.
People wish better lighting, hydrant, activation and safety etiquette.
People value places in a shadow, cleannes and dog corridors.
People value for social activies such as breed dates, evening meetings and training.
People also wish better soil in dog parks, more seats and wild nature (Finnish flora).
Examples what could be added to dog parks
Water tap can be an expensive addition to a dog park, but it came often in the responses. Another response was about lighting. Dog parks can be dark especially in winter time and good lighting could create security and it helps to clean your dog's waste.
About biodiversity and dog parks
According to the responses people wish more biodiversity in Helsinki. It could be added along with dog parks, but not inside since there can be unwanted bugs such as ticks. Responders wish tree trunks, grass and more Finnish flora, which can survive by its own. This helps environment office of the city to not overcome their tasks.
